BTIT: Availability and resilience

Availability and resilience policies describe how BTIT thinks about reliable service delivery, fault tolerance and recovery planning.

Customer-facing principles

  • Services should be designed with appropriate resilience for their business criticality.
  • Monitoring and alerting should be proportionate to the service.
  • Critical dependencies should be understood and documented.
  • Recovery expectations should be agreed rather than assumed.

Planning a new service

When requesting a new managed service, tell BTIT the required availability, acceptable downtime, recovery time expectations and any peak usage periods.
