Backups and snapshots are different things. It is important to understand what is included with your service and what you must manage yourself.
Snapshot
A snapshot is usually a point-in-time capture of a VPS. It is useful before upgrades or risky changes, but it is not a complete backup strategy.
Backup
A backup should be restorable, tested, and stored separately from the system it protects.
Your responsibility
- Back up your application data.
- Export databases regularly.
- Keep copies of important configuration.
- Test restores before you need them.
